Meet Our Health Wellness Teacher
Mr Soju Samuel is rendering his services in the capacity of a Psychologist and Counsellor at Delhi Public School, Bhilai since 2014. He is the vital member of the education team here. He helps all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. He provides counselling in both individual and group settings to help students overcome behavioural problems, improve organization and time management skills, and set academic goals. He develops confidential relationships with students to help them resolve and cope with their problems and challenges. He makes appointments with various troubled students referred to him by the students themselves or their teachers/parents.

 Need for Counselling
If we are to improve our the education system of our nation, we must put counselling in the beginning. Counselling is the most important ingredient in shaping the behaviour of students and performance especially in schools. Students with various problems in schools need to be listened to. Some school administrators and owners are of the opinion that senior mistresses, wardens, senior teachers and/or religious leaders can counsel these students whenever they go to class for a lesson or meet in dormitories or on the compound. But little do they know that these people do not have the counselling skills to do it well. In a school setting nowadays, there are many cases which need to be handled by a trained health wellness teacher. These include; psychological, family issues and above all indiscipline cases; which, if not handled professionally, can lead students to making wrong and uninformed decisions.
