Biotechnology is one of the major technologies of 21st Century and one of the rising careers today. It has come up in a big way and is helping mankind by introducing technological advancement in the fields like medicine, agriculture engineering, nature engineering, genetics, information technology and many other areas.

In order to meet the emerging challenges in relation to career opportunities as well as academic pursuits the school has introduced this subject as an independent elective subject of study in the academic stream at Senior Secondary level in the academic year 2003. DPS Bhilai is the first school in Chhattisgarh state to introduce this subject in the curriculum.

To understand the intricacies of the subject the school has a well established biotechnology laboratory. The lab is equipped with the best and high quality equipments to conduct all the experiments prescribed by the CBSE.

The lab is also equipped with a computer to provide information about the new global wave bioinformatics. The lab facilitates the preparation of projects which help the students to keep abreast of latest research and development and making education an adventure.
