Inter-DPS National Swimming Meet (Boys), 2013 held at DPS Bhilai from 12-14th April, 2013

 

DSC_0153.JPGThe concluding ceremony of the Inter-DPS National Swimming Meet (Boys), 2013 was held at the Risali Sector School Complex on 14th April, 2013. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri L.T. Sherpa, E.D. (P & A), Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai. The programme was also graced by Shri Uma Raman, G.M. I/c. (Mills), BSP, Bhilai, Shri R.K. Sharma, G.M. (Personnel), BSP, Bhilai, Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai, Shri D.P. Satpathy, D.G.M. (Education), BSP, Bhilai, Shri Gopal Khandelwal, President, Chhattisgarh Swimming Association, Shri Sahiram Jhakar, Secretary, Chhattisgarh Swimming Association & Manager, SRG, BSP, Bhilai, Co-opted members, SMC DPS Bhilai - Shri R.C. Singh, Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP, Dr. Aditya Methi and other dignitaries.

The programme commenced with the presentation of bouquets to the illustrious guests. The Principal I/c. in his address welcomed the hon’ble guests. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein the participation certificates and winners’ medals were awarded to the participants.

In the finals of 4x50 m Freestyle Relay (U-14) the team comprising Akshat Pandey, Amay Singh, Ayush Dewangan & Shivdeep Kalkat of DPS Bhilai bagged Gold Medal, the team comprising Yuvraj Jain, Vageesh Neema, Abhinav Kotia & Gurnek Saini of DPS Indore bagged Silver and the team comprising Yog Gupta, Pranav Pareek, Divya Pareek & Umang Gupta of DPS Jabalpur bagged Bronze Medal.

In the 50 m Freestyle (Open) Himanshu Dhakad of DPS Bhopal bagged Gold Medal, Aryan Chatterjee of DPS R.K. Puram bagged Silver and Bikram Bhadra of DPS Mega City, Kolkata bagged Bronze Medal. In the 4x100 m Freestyle Relay (U-16) the team comprising Mayank Singh, Pushpak Roy, K.S. Rahul & Shashank Singh of DPS Bhilai bagged Gold Medal, the team comprising Yash Sansanwal, Harsh Tokas, Shivang Tokas & Arnav of DPS R.K. Puram bagged Silver and the team comprising Jai Gupta, Apoorva Upadhyay, Abhishek Kothari & Vaibhav Kathpalia of DPS Mathura Road bagged Bronze Medal.

In the U-14 category, the Team Championship was won by DPS Bhilai with 50 points, while the 1st Runners - Up was DPS Navi Mumbai with 38 points and DPS Gurgaon was 2nd Runners - Up with 26 points. Vikrant Narwat of DPS Gurgaon won the title of Best Swimmer of the Meet.

In the U-16 category, the title of Best Swimmer of the Meet was won by Mayank Singh of DPS Bhilai & Yash Sansanwal of DPS R.K. Puram. The Team Championship was won by DPS Bhilai with 91 points, while the 1st Runners - Up was DPS R.K. Puram with 64 points and DPS Mathura Road was 2nd Runners - Up with 31 points.

In the Open category, the Team Championship was won by DPS R.K. Puram with 75 points, while the 1st Runners - Up was DPS Bhopal with 60 points and DPS Bhilai was 2nd Runners - Up with 47 points. Harsh Yadav of DPS R.K. Puram won the title of Best Swimmer of the Meet.

 

DSC_0375.JPGSpeaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Guest congratulated all the participants and appreciated their enthusiasm. He added that sports were an integral part of a student’s life and such type of contests offered opportunities for healthy competition as well as making friends. He congratulated the school authorities for the successful organisation of this Swimming Meet.

On this occasion, there was a short cultural programme put up by the host school comprising a group song, a group dance and an interlude of instrumental music on the tabla. The programme drew to a close with the Vote Of Thanks by the Secretary, Organising Committee and Vice Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ranjana Yadav and concluded with the National Anthem.

In the 100 m Breaststroke (Open), B. Abhijeet of DPS Bhilai bagged the Gold Medal, Saksham Malhotra of DPS R.K. Puram bagged the Silver and Zaibish Khan of DPS Bhopal bagged the Bronze. DSC_9747 .JPGDPS Bhilai is privileged to host the Inter-DPS National Swimming Meet (Boys) from 12-14th April, 2013. The Opening Ceremony of the Meet was held at the Risali Sector School Complex. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri S.B. Jagdale, E.D. I/c. (Projects), BSP, Bhilai. The programme was also graced by the benign presence of Shri S.K. Pradhan, E.D. (Projects), BSP, Bhilai, Shri S.K. Jain, G.M. (T.A.), BSP & Member, SMC DPS Bhilai, Shri S.K. Acharya, Member-Secretary, Steel Education Society, Bhilai & D.G.M. (Personnel), BSP, Bhilai,  Shri R.C. Singh, Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP Bhilai and Co-opted Member, SMC DPS Bhilai and several other dignitaries.

DSC_9730 .jpgThe programme commenced with the presentation of floral tokens to the Chief Guest and other invitees. The Principal I/c. in his Welcome Address introduced the Chief Guest to the august gathering. The Chief Guest hoisted the flag and formally declared the meet open. The officials of the event were then introduced to the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest administered the Oath to the participants. On this occasion there was a short cultural programme presented by the host school comprising a Saraswati Vandana, a Group Song and a Chhattisgarhi Folk Dance.
The Chief Guest in his address expressed his pleasure at being present for this Mega Event. He added that it was heartening to see that Delhi Public School, Bhilai with its continuous striving for adopting novel and innovative methods to perfect the system of imparting education and values to the students had secured a place among the best schools of the country. He concluded by wishing all the participants good luck and hoping that they bettered their own records.

XXVII Annual Open Day of Pre-Primary Wing : Classes Nursery & Prep.
of DPS Bhilai Celebrated

 

The XXVII Annual Open Celebrations of Classes Nursery & Prep. were held on Saturday, the 9th March 2013, amidst an atmosphere of fun and festivity. The Risali Sector School Campus was dazzlingly decorated for this glorious occasion. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the evening was Shri S. Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive Officer, Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai. The other dignitaries who graced the programme were Shri Y.K. Degan, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS Bhilai & E.D. (Works), BSP, Bhilai, Shri S.K. Jain, Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai & G.M. (T.A.), BSP, Bhilai and other special invitees.

The celebrations commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp to the accompaniment of an invocation. The Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav extended a warm welcome to the distinguished gathering. The Annual Report of activities of classes Nursery & Prep. was presented by the Senior Mistress, Pre-Primary Wing, Mrs. Monita Karamchandani. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein the tiny tots were awarded for their commendable performances.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Y.K. Degan expressed his pleasure at being present on the occasion and said that he had been associated with the school for more than 25 years. He continued by saying that DPS Bhilai enjoyed an enviable reputation and students of DPS Bhilai were successful employees all over the globe. This kind of success was possible only because of the hard work put in by the members of the faculty under the able leadership of the Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav.

The Chief Guest in his speech expressed his pleasure at being present on this occasion. He said that today DPS Bhilai has carved a special niche for itself among the leading educational institutions of the country and in the 25 years since its inception has grown exponentially. He further added that DPS Bhilai was the first choice for every parent for the education of their child and the credit for this went to the team at DPS Bhilai with the Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav at its helm. He concluded by appreciating the effort put in by the students and teachers for the wonderful progamme.

The Cultural Programme began with G. Sai Janani of Prep. - B enthralling the audience with a dance recital to invoke the Almighty’s Blessings. 35 students of Prep. - A, C & D presented a melodious rendition which was truly enchanting. The little ones were trained by Mrs. Adipti Chakraborty & Miss Aarti Basnet. 111 students from class Nursery - A, C & D stressed the importance of sports in one’s life through their presentation “Khelo Jee Jaan Se“. The programme was choreographed by Mrs. Rajshree Dutta, Mrs. Archana S. Jashwant, Mrs. Rashmi Prasad & Mrs. Shubha J. Varghese. 110 students from class Nursery - F, G & I conveyed the message that our ecosystem is fragile and there is a need to protect the same through their presentation “Heal the World”. The students were trained by Mrs. Sonali Parwana, Mrs. Shreeti Das & Miss Harsha Minocha. 110 students from class Nursery - B, E & H presented the magical fairy tale – “Rumplestiltskin”. This was directed by Mrs. Sunanda Bajaj, Mrs. Rashmi A. Kumar, Mrs. Indu Joshi & Mrs. Anita Mishra. 115 students from class Prep. - B, E & G presented a lively Bhangra from Punjab titled “Punjabi Tadka”. This was choreographed by Mrs. Renu Sharma, Mrs. Sheetal Mishra & Miss Sumitra Jha. The Earth is the most unique of all planets and boasts of life in varied forms. 114 students from class Prep F, H & I presented the varied hues of our mother earth through an energetic dance performance titled “Hues of our Mother Earth”. They were trained by Mrs. Renu Jaiswal, Mrs. Seema Dey & Miss Teena Shaddani. 81 students from class Prep A, C & D presented foot tapping dances in their presentation “Dance Ka Dhamaal”. The students were trained by Mrs. Seema Jha & Ms. D. Sreelatha. ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ – the slogan given by Lal Bahadur Shastri beautifully conveyed through a poem by Tanisi Choudhary of Nursery E and Saanvi Dani of Prep G presented a Mono Act in which the message given was that each little thing in the universe is valuable and its importance cannot be undermined.

This programme moved towards its finale with the Vote of Thanks which was proposed by the Vice Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ranjana Yadav and the function ended with the National Anthem.


 

XXVII Annual Open Day of Pre-Primary Wing : Class-I of DPS Bhilai Celebrated

 

The XXVII Annual Open Day of the Pre-Primary Wing : Class-I of DPS Bhilai was celebrated on Friday, the 8th March, 2013 in the beautifully bedecked Risali Sector School Campus. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Anand Chhabra, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police,
Durg District. The glorious programme was also graced by the illustrious presence of
Shri R.C. Singh, Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP and other distinguished invitees.

The Lighting of the Lamp, to the accompaniment of an invocation heralded an auspicious start to the festivities of the evening. The Principal Shri M.P. Yadav accorded a warm welcome to the august gathering. The Annual Report of the activities of class I was presented by Mrs. Monita Karamchandani, Senior Mistress, Pre-Primary Wing. This was followed by the prize giving ceremony, wherein the tiny tots received awards for their commendable achievements.

Speaking on this memorable occasion, the Chief Guest in his address expressed his pleasure at being present on the Open Day Celebrations of the Pre-Primary Wing : Class I. He eulogised the Principal Shri M. P.Yadav for his effort in raising the standard of the school to truly international levels. He urged the parents to nurture their children, help them grow and keep them happy as children were the keys to a glorious future. He concluded by wishing everyone present good luck in all their future endeavours.

The cultural programme began with the Welcome Song. 36 students from class 1 - B, F & H welcomed all the guests through their melodious presentation. The students were trained by Mrs. Pamela Henry & Miss Aarti Basnet. Ganapati - the elephant-headed God is worshipped with great devotion and fervour. 78 students from class 1 - A & G presented the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi through their presentation Ganesh Stuti.The little ones were trained by Mrs. Mona Tiwari & Mrs. Sonia Ulphas. Children are God’s most precious creation and deserve to be loved and cared for. 78 students of class 1 - C & D tried to reach out to those children who were not lucky enough to have received the love of their parents through their heart-warming presentation Light of Hope. The students were trained by Mrs. Meetali Bandhyopadhyay & Mrs. Purnima Sahu. 77 students from class 1 - E & I presented the empowerment of women through a dance drama. Naari - Ek Yodha. The little ones were trained by Mrs. Meenakshi Paul & Mrs. K. Prasuna. India - the land rich in culture and its diversity is really incredible. 78 students from class - 1 B, F & H showcased the pride which an Indian feels at being the citizen of such a great nation in their presentation –Proud to be an Indian. The children were trained by Mrs. Pamela Henry, Mrs. Sushmita Moitra & Mrs. Jyoti A. Nair. Children are the future of a nation. Adrika Mitra of class 1 - I, portrayed the feelings of a young citizen who aspires to reach the stars through her dance performance which provided a charming interlude.

This entrancing evening drew to a close with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Vice Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ranjana Yadav and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
 

XXVII ANNUAL OPEN DAY CELEBRATIONS OF PRIMARY WING OF DPS BHILAI

 

DPS BHILAI EVENING FUNCTION PHOTOS (02.02.2013)[1].jpgThe Cultural Fiesta of the XXVII Annual Open Day Celebrations of Primary Wing of DPS Bhilai commenced in the evening of 2nd February, 2013 in the Risali Sector School Complex. The entire school was dazzlingly decorated for the occasion. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the gala event was Shri S. Shekar, E.D. (M.S. & B.P.), Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai. The function was also graced by Dr. Aditya Methi, Co-opted Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai and the illustrious presence of several other dignitaries.

The programme got a ceremonial start with the Lighting of the Lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest. The Principal, Shri M.P.Yadav extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other invitees. The Head Mistress - Primary Wing, Mrs. Lipika Banerjee presented the Annual Report of the Session 2012-’13. This was followed by the prize giving ceremony wherein meritorious students received prizes for their praiseworthy performances.

In his address, the Chief Guest expressed his pleasure at being present for the occasion. He congratulated the Principal and the Members of the Faculty for their effort at ensuring that DPS Bhilai retained its position as a premier educational institution. He exhorted the students to imbibe all the good things that the school had to offer. He narrated interesting anecdotes to illustrate that only academic knowledge was not enough to succeed in life, one needed to be an all-round personality and that one could succeed in one’s goal only if one was focussed and did not get easily distracted. He concluded his speech by extending his congratulations to the students and the staff for the excellent cultural programme.

This was followed by “Ganga Avtaran” which was a classical dance item that recreated the story of King Bhagirath who underwent rigorous penances to invoke Lord Shiva into allowing him to let Ganga free from his matted hair and satiate the parched and thirsty earth. “Khushi Ki Tarang” was a rhythmic and foot tapping dance performance by students of classes II & III, dressed in bright & beautiful costumes, trailing a blaze of colour. The play ‘Padhega India Tabhi Toh Badhega India’ dealt with the complex issue of illiteracy and reiterated the importance of education, in the path of progress. “Divine Intervention” a dance by students of classes IV & V was a magical journey into a soothing ambience by interweaving Arabic, Sufi, Illusion and Enigma. “Colours of Humanity” – a mime presenting a confluence of sacred and secular India and “Jungle Safari” which transported the audience to a true Jungle Safari were charming interludes in the cultural fiesta.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Ranjana Yadav and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.

 

PRIMARY WING EXHIBITION MARKS THE INAUGURATION OF THE
XXVII ANNUAL OPEN DAY CELEBRATIONS OF DPS BHILAI

 

DSC_6023.JPGThe XXVII Annual Open Day of the Primary Wing of DPS Bhilai was celebrated on 2nd February 2013 amidst festive atmosphere. The day commenced with the inauguration of the Annual Exhibition, in the Maroda Sector School Complex, by Shri M. Akhouri, Chairman, SES, Bhilai & E.D. (M.M.), BSP. The other distinguished guests who graced the occasion were Shri Y.K. Degan, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS Bhilai & E.D. (Works), BSP, Shri D.P. Satpathy, Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai & D.G.M. (Education), BSP and Shri R.C. Singh, amongst others.

The topic chosen for the exhibition by class II was “Seasons”. Sections A, B & C had “Summer” as their theme. The scorching heat of the season, the parched and bare earth, the bright glare of the sunlight were vividly brought to life through wonderful displays. Sections D, E & F focused on the “Rainy Season”. The special flavour of the seasons its life–giving propensities, were creatively displayed by the students. Sections G, H & I had “Winter” as their theme ably depicted through informative displays and indeed brought the chill of winter season into the class room!

Class III to V had colours as their theme. Class III A, B & C had the colours “Green” as their topic. They vividly brought the colour to life through their colourful displays. They focused on the Green Revolution and explained that the colour was symbolic of natural energy. Section D, E & F demonstrated “Red” signifying beauty, readiness for action and power. Section G, H & I had colour “Blue” as their colour. Blue signifies responsibility, reliability, calmness and all depicted through imaginative displays.

DSC_6030.JPGClass IV A, B & C had “Yellow” as their colour. Yellow is a symbol of charm, youth, inspiration brought alive through charming, creative displays. Section D, E & F had “Brown” for their theme. Brown is a natural, down to earth, practical shade, demonstrated through practical displays such as the use of brown paper bags. Section G, H & I had the colour of warmth and vitality “Orange” as their theme and explained that orange signified courage and sacrifice through their wonderful displays.

Class V A, B & C had royal “Purple” and girlish “Pink” as their colour and their charming and thought provoking on save the girl child food for thought, along with being a treat for the eyes. Section D, E & F had the powerful colour “Black” as their choice and indeed proved the saying “Black is Beautiful”. Section G, H & I had the pristine and pure “White” as their colour. The entire classroom exuded serenity with its wonderful displays.

The Rangoli and Flower arrangements were spectacular as were the displays in the Library, Maths Lab & Computer Labs. The ingenuity and innovativeness of the little ones ably expressed their creative creations.
 

SPIC MACAY presents Padma Shri Guru Shovana Narayan at DPS Bhilai

This special programme was organized under the auspices of the Bhilai-Durg Chapter of Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth (SPIC MACAY). Spic Macay which was founded in 1977 is a voluntary, apolitical, participatory student movement which aims to enrich the education process by exposing students to the rich cultural traditions of India.

The Kathak Maestro was accompanied by Pandit Mahavir Ganganiji on the Pakhawaj, Azhar Shakeel Khan on the Violin and Music Composer and Vocalist Shri Madho Prasad.

In her Lec Dem, she explained the history of Kathak, the salient features of Kathak, the reflection and application of Natyashastra and Abhinayadarpan in various items of Kathak. She demonstrated various important items of Kathak - Rangmanch Pravesh, Vandana, Teyyari Ang with Amad, Tora, Paran, Footwork, Gatnikas, Gat Bhava and Bhava items. It was a unique experience for the students as they got an unique opportunity to interact with this internationally acclaimed dancer.

The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp and garlanding the portrait of Goddess Saraswati which gave the programme its traditional fervour. The National Anthem brought an end to this marvellous morning.

 

XXViiI Annual Sports Meet of DPS Bhilai Celebrated

  The bright and beautiful morning of 21st December, 2012 witnessed the celebration of the XXVIII Annual Sports Day of DPS Bhilai at the lush, green environs of the Maroda Sector School Campus. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Ashok Juneja, I.P.S., Inspector General of Police - Durg Range. Smt. & Shri Madhurendra Akhouri, Chairman, S.E.S. & E.D. (M.M.), BSP presided over the function. The other distinguished guests who graced the programme were Smt. & Shri S.K. Jain, G.M. (T.S.), BSP & Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai, Dr. Aditya Methi, Co-opted Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai, amongst others.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by the Principal, Shri M.P. Yadav. The Sports Meet was formally declared ‘Open’ by the Chief Guest, followed by the release of pigeons and balloons. Crackers were burst and the Sports Day got off to a roaring start. The Sports Secretaries completed the track run and then lit the flame. The Chief Guest inspected the contingents and a magnificent March Past was performed by classes IX to XII in which Narmada House was adjudged the best.

The guests were presented with a field display by the students of Pre-Primary, Primary and Middle Wing students that was a visual feast. 700 students of Nursery and Prep enraptured the gathering with their presentation - “Woh Sunahare Pal” that depicted the magic of childhood, the mischief, the innocence, the fun that can never be forgotten and is always a source of pleasurable reminiscence. 350 students of Class I stole the hearts of the audience as they presented ‘Tumse Baddhkar Kaun” - a tribute to parents, expounding the philosophy that parents ought to be revered and respected always as their love and care is second to none, indeed they are God’s greatest blessings for one. 720 students of Classes II & III inspired the audience with patriotism through their enthralling presentation “Guardians of India”. 700 students of Classes IV & V attired in bright and colourful costumes presented “Oath of Patriotism” in which they pledged to love and protect their country throughout their lives. 424 Middle Wing girls presented “Together We Will” - a colourful endeavour with a message to work together to help India develop and prosper and make it a country we can all be proud of. 617 Middle Wing boys held the audience spellbound with their field display “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow” - a presentation to sensitize people to the issue of following Traffic Rules and Road Safety Guidelines as life is precious and one must protect and preserve it.

The highlight of this special occasion was the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Y. Rahul of Class
XI-H, Narmada House won the title of Best Boy Athlete in the Senior Category. Lewin Tikariha of Class VIII-I, Jhelum House was declared the Best Boy Athlete in the Junior Category. Farhan Siddique of Class VII-I, Jhelum House was adjudged the Best Boy Athlete in the Sub-Junior Category. Sujata Dhar of Class XII-E, Chenab House won the title of Best Girl Athlete in the Senior Category. Samriddhi Bais of Class IX-C, Kaveri House was adjudged the Best Girl Athlete in the Junior Category and Ashlesha Behera of Class VII-H, Jhelum House was adjudged Best Girl Athlete in the Sub-Junior Category. The Championship Trophy was won by Jhelum House. The other noteworthy awards presented on the occasion were the Best House Trophy for excellence in Curricular and Cocurricular activities which was won by Ganges House and the Principal's Gold Medal for the Best All-Rounder was awarded to Aditi Methi of Class XII-F, Yamuna House.

The Chairman, S.E.S. & E.D. (M.M.), BSP, Shri Madhurendra Akhouri in his address expressed his pleasure at being present on the momentous occasion of the XVIII Sports Day of the School. He said that DPS Bhilai was a name to be reckoned with in the cause of imparting quality education to the students. He congratulated the students and their teachers for the magnificent March Past and field display and appreciated their effort. He concluded his speech by saying that the goal of the school was clear, it was an ongoing effort to give each child the best of opportunities so that he can be an enlightened citizen of the world and tackle the big challenges of life.

The Chief Guest in his message extended his greetings to all present and expressed his pleasure at being present on this occasion. He stressed on the importance of sports and games in a student's life. He added that the school playgrounds, besides training the child's body and mind also served as the bedrock for the bright prospects of the country in sports. He concluded by wishing the entire school fraternity a glorious future ahead with success in all their endeavours.

The programme moved towards its finale with the extinguishing of the flame. The Sports Secretaries handed over the flag to the Chief Guest. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Ranjana Yadav and the National Anthem brought this memorable day to an end.

  An Inter-School Drawing and Painting Competition was held on 20th November, 2012 at DPS Risali Sector Campus. The students from Krishna Public School, Bhilai, Shri Shankaracharya Vidyalaya, Sector-6, The Aditya Birla Public School, Grasim Vihar, Raipur, Vishwadeep Sr. Sec. Inter-School English Debate Marks Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations at DPS Bhilai

 

The birth anniversary of the revered ‘Father of the Nation’ and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated at DPS Bhilai with an Inter- School English Debate. The illustrious Chief Guest to grace the occasion was Mr. Ashutosh Chawre, District Education Officer, Durg District. The distinguished panel of judges of the debate comprised - Mrs. Anita Narula, HOD - English, Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Dr. Tapas Mukherjee, Associate Professor of English, Govt. College, Bhilai-3 and Mrs. Kakoli Thakur, Ex-Sr. Mistress-Primary Wing, DPS Bhilai.

The topic for the debate was “RIGHT TO EDUCATION IS A REALISTIC AND ACHIEVEABLE GOAL”. Apart from the host school, the schools which participated in the debate were BSP Sr. Sec. School Sector-7, BSP Sr. Sec. School Sector-10, DAV Public School, Hudco, Krishna Public School, Bhilai, MGM Sr. Sec. School, Bhilai and Vishwadeep Sr. Sec. School, Durg.

The programme commenced with the felicitation of the Chief Guest and judges. The Chief Guest then lighted the ceremonial lamp to the accompaniment of an invocation. This was followed by a melodious rendition of Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To......." and Ramdhun. The Principal Mr. M.P. Yadav accorded a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest, the judges and other invitees.

The Debate began with the reading out of the rules and regulations. It was a keenly contested ‘Battle of Words’ and revealed the intellectual and oratorical skills of the participants. At the end of the Debate Dr. Tapas Mukherjee shared his views about the debate with the gathering. He said that some good would definitely come out of this Act. However, proper research and development of pertinent issues of the Act needed to be done. He further added that he was privileged to spend a national holiday listening to some of the best students of the city speaking on such a contemporary issue.

The results were declared by Mrs. Anita Narula. Speaking in favour of the motion, the first prize was won by Shruti Jain of DPS Bhilai, Abhishek Bhowmick of BSP Sr. Sec. School, Sector-10, was awarded the second prize and the third prize went to R. Shruti of DAV Public School, Hudco. Speaking against the motion, Harshit Sahay of DPS Bhilai won the first prize. The second prize was awarded to Joshua John of MGM Sr. Sec. School, Sector-6 and the third prize went to Utkarsh Aglawe of DAV Public School, Hudco. On the basis of the total points scored DPS Bhilai stood first. However, being the host school it did not compete for the Rolling Shield which was lifted by DAV Public School, Hudco.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest congratulated all the participants and appreciated the maturity of ideas expressed by the students on such a contemporary and important issue. He said that in today’s world a teacher should be a good facilitator of knowledge. He concluded by saying that the three things needed to be successful were knowledge, confidence and hard work.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Ranjana Yadav, Vice Principal. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

 

HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATED WITH
INTER-SCHOOL HINDI DEBATE AT DPS BHILAI

The topic for the debate was, “A Common Entrance Examination for admission to professional courses is beneficial for the country and students”. The schools that participated were DAV Public School, Hudco; Delhi Public School, Raipur; Krishna Public School, Bhilai; Senior Secondary School, Sector-10; Shri Shankaracharya Vidyalaya, Hudco and the host school Delhi Public School, Bhilai.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp which was followed by the Principal Mr. M.P. Yadav’s Welcome Address to the elite audience. At the end of the keenly contested debate the Chief Guest and the judges were deeply impressed with the oratorical skills and the succint arguments put forward by the participants both in favour and against the topic.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. (Mrs.) Anita Sawant praised all the participants for the self-confidence they exhibited while explaining their points of views and congratulated them for their attempts at dealing with such a complex issue. She expressed the opinon that such debate competitions were not only for being successful or unsuccessful in them but to provoke brainstorming sessions over topical issues. She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the school authorities for having invited her to grace the programme.

The results were announced by Dr. S.R. Thakur who said that such debate competitions were essential for the development of the holistic personality of the studens. On the basis of total points scored DPS Bhilai stood first but being the host school did not compete for the Rolling Shield which was awarded to Shri Shankaracharya Vidyalaya, Hudco.

In his address the Chief Guest expressed his pleasure at being present for the progamme. He expressed gratitude to the Principal for inviting him on this occasion. He narrated an interesting anecdote to amuse the students. He concluded by asking the students to believe in their ability to do well and said that they definitely would be able to do so.

The concluding ceremony of National Inter-DPS Chess Championship (Boys U-14) & Girls (Open) Swimming Meet was held at the Risali Sector School Complex on 31st August, 2012. The Hon'ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Veena Singh. The programme was also graced by Mrs. Ila Kalchuri, Mr. Y. K. Degan, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS, Bhilai & ED (Works), BSP, Mr. S. K. Jain, Member, SMC, DPS, Bhilai & G.M. (T.S.) BSP and other dignitaries.

The programme commenced with the presentation of bouquets to the illustrious guests, followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp. The Principal in his address welcomed the hon'ble guests. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein the participation certificates and winners' medals were awarded to the participants.

In the events held yesterday, in the finals of 50 m Freestyle Apoorva Sahai of DPS Noida bagged Gold Medal, Dilpreet Kaur of DPS Gandhinagar bagged Silver Medal and Ayushi Tiwari of DPS Bilaspur bagged Bronze Medal.

In the finals of 100 m Breaststroke Sara Joshi of DPS Bilaspur bagged Gold Medal, Sharanya Venu of DPS R.K. Puram bagged Silver Medal and Disha Mazumdar of DPS Bhilai bagged Bronze Medal.

In the finals of 200 m Individual Medley Kavya Anand of DPS R.K. Puram bagged Gold Medal, Sara Joshi of DPS Bilaspur bagged Silver Medal and Anusha Joy of DPS Bhilai bagged Bronze Medal.

In the finals of 50 m Backstroke Hunar Deshwal of DPS Noida bagged Gold Medal, Ayashika Mukherjee of DPS Bhilai bagged Silver Medal and Ayushi Shukla of DPS Raipur bagged Bronze Medal.

In the finals of 50 m Butterfly Kavya Anand of DPS R.K. Puram bagged Gold Medal, Anusha Joy of DPS Bhilai bagged Silver Medal and Ritu Lamba of DPS Noida bagged Bronze Medal.

In the finals of the 4x50 m Freestyle Relay, the team from DPS Noida comprising Ashna Narang, Hunar Deshwal, Ritu Lamba and Apoorva Sahai bagged the Gold Medal, the team from DPS Bhilai comprising Anusha Joy, Ayashika Mukherjee, Disha Majumdar and Sujata Dhar bagged the Silver and DPS R.K. Puram with team members Anisha Singh, Ujjvala Singh, Kavya Anand and Sharanya Venu bagged the Bronze. Kavya Anand of DPS R. K. Puram won the title of the Best Swimmer with 3 Gold Medals to her credit. The team from DPS Noida stood first with 56 points and DPS R. K. Puram was the first Runners-up and DPS Bhilai the second Runners-up.

After 9 exhaustive rounds of Chess, among 18 participating schools, DPS Vishakhapatnam won the Championship Trophy with 13 points. DPS Bangalore (East) was the first Runners-up and DPS Dwarka was the second Runners-up on the basis of their progressive scores of 12.5 points each, DPS Bhilai scored 12 points and stood fourth. V. Pranavananda of DPS Vishakapatnam was declared the Best Player of the Championship.

 
 

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon'ble Chief Guest congratulated all the winners and in a motherly fashion advised those who had lost, not to be disheartened and practice hard so that they could be a source of inspiration to other players in future. She finally urged them to study hard, play well and win fame and acclaim at National and International levels.

The Pro-Vice Chairman in his speech also congratulated all the participants and said that to lead a good life, games and sports were of paramount importance.

On this occasion, there was a short cultural programme put up by the host school comprising a group song, a Chhattisgarhi folk dance and an interlude of instrumental music on the guitar. The programme drew to a close with the Vote Of Thanks by the Secretary, Organising Committee and Vice Principal Mrs. Ranjana Yadav and concluded with the National Anthem.

The finalists in 50 m Butterfly are Sayani Saha of DPS Kolkata (Mega City), Ritu lamba of DPS Noida, Kavya Anand of DPS R. K. Puram, Anusha Joy of DPS Bhilai, Divyangi Singh of DPS Varanasi and Ayushi Sarkar of DPS Kolkata (New Town).

The Chess Championship yielded interesting scores after a closely fought battle. After Round 5 the position of the schools is as follows. National Inter-DPS Chess (Boys U-14) & Swimming Meet, 2012
(Girls Open) commences

 

DPS Bhilai is privileged to host the National Inter-DPS Chess Championship (Boys U-14) & Swimming Meet (Girls Open) from 29-31 August, 2012. The Opening Ceremony of the Championship was held at the Risali Sector School Complex. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri D.M Awasthi, I.P.S, ADG (EOW/ACB), Raipur, Govt. of Chhattisgarh. The programme was also graced by the benign presence of Shri R.C. Singh, Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP Bhilai and Co-opted Member, SMC DPS Bhilai, Dr. Aditya Methi, ENT Surgeon and Co-opted Member, SMC DPS Bhilai and several other dignitaries.

The participating schools in the Swimming Meet are DPS Bhilai, Bilaspur, Durg, Gandhinagar, Kanpur (Kalyanpur), Kolkatta (Megacity), Kolkatta (Newtown), Noida, R.K. Puram, Raipur, Siliguri, Srinagar, Surat and Varanasi.

The participating schools in the Chess Championship are DPS Allahabad. Bangalore, Bhilai, Bulandsahar, Dhanbad, Durg, Dwarka, Faridabad, Jamshedpur, Kanpur (Azad Nagar), Korba, Nagpur, Nalco Nagar, Saharanpur, Secunderabad, Surat, Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam.
The programme commenced with the presentation of floral tokens to the Chief Guest and other invitees. This was followed by Lighting the Lamp to lend an auspicious start to the event. The Principal in his Welcome Address introduced the Chief Guest to the august gathering. The Chief Guest hoisted the flag and formally declared the competitions open. The officials of the event were then introduced to the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest administered the Oath to the participants. On this occasion there was a short cultural programme presented by the host school comprising a tabla recital, a patriotic group song and a Chhattisgarhi folk dance.

The Chief Guest in his address expressed his pleasure at being present for this Mega Event. He said that this endeavour on part of the DPS Society was a laudable attempt at bringing together students from different schools of the DPS chain and creating a ‘Mini & United India’. He further added that sports formed an invaluable part of a student’s life. He concluded by saying that defeat was an inseparable part of victory and victory could be truly appreciated only if one had tasted defeat. Life comprised both defeat and victory and children should be aware of both. He congratulated the Principal and the Members of the Staff for their effort in hosting such a grand show.

In the Inaugural session, in the 100 m Butterfly Stroke, Kavya Anand from DPS R.K. Puram bagged the Gold medal, Anusha Joy from DPS Bhilai bagged the Silver and Ritu Lamba from DPS Noida bagged the Bronze.

After the heats of the 50 m Breast Stroke the finalists are Ashna Narang from DPS Noida, Disha Mazumdar from DPS Bhilai, Sara Joshi from DPS Bilaspur, Sharanya Venu from DPS R.K. Puram, Diksha Khandelwal from DPS Kolkata (Mega City) and Jaya Sinha from DPS Kanpur.

After the heats of the 100 m Freestyle the finalists are Rashika Agrawal from DPS Kanpur (Kalyanpur), Anisha Singh from DPS R. K. Puram, Apoorva Sahai from DPS Noida, Dilpreet Kaur from DPS Gandhinagar, Ayushi Tiwari from DPS Bilaspur and Shruti Manik from DPS Raipur.

After the heats of 100 m Backstroke the finalists are Mishika Arora from DPS Surat (Dumas Road), Ayushi Shukla from DPS Raipur, Hunar Deshwal from DPS Noida, Ayashika Mukherjee from DPS Bhilai, Anisha Singh from DPS R. K. Puram and Kadambari Goel from DPS Kanpur (Kalyanpur).

In the first round of the Chess competition to be played in nine rounds the winners are Sathish Hemant and Aditya Chakraborty from DPS Bangalore (East), Shashwat Chakraborty and Rohan Garg from DPS Bhilai, Kshitiz from DPS Dhanbad, Vaibhav Ajmeria from DPS Durg, Akash Kumar from DPS Jamshedpur, Aryansh Chaturvedi from DPS Kanpur (Azadnagar), Adarsh Sahu from DPS Korba, Parth Kale and Vaibhav Agasti from DPS Nagpur, Akhilesh Patnaik and Amlan Swain from DPS Nalconagar, J. Prabhath Lakshmi Narayana from DPS Secunderabad, Sankalp Jain from DPS Surat, V. Pranavananda and T. S. R. Kausthubh from DPS Visakhapatnam. The match between Aaryan Chopra of DPS Dwarka and Rajat Kumar Singh of DPS Varanasi ended in a draw.

The Championship will conclude on 31st August, 2012.
 

XXVII Foundation Day Celebrations of Delhi Public School, Bhilai

 

The Cultural Fiesta of the XXVII Foundation Day Celebrations of DPS Bhilai commenced in the evening of 18th August, 2012 in the Risali Sector School Complex. The entire school was dazzlingly decorated for the occasion. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the gala event was Mr. Mukesh Gupta, I.P.S., I.G.-Intelligence & Raipur Range, Govt. of Chhattisgarh. The other distinguished guests who graced the programme were Mr. D.P. Satapathy, Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai & D.G.M. (Education), BSP, Bhilai, Mrs. & Mr. H.R. Choudhury, D.G.M. (H.R.D.), BSP, Bhilai, Mr. R.C. Singh, Co-opted Member, SMC, DPS, Bhilai & Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP, Bhilai.

The function commenced with the formal welcome of the Chief Guest and other dignitaries with bouquets. This was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp to lend an auspicious start to the programme. The Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav in his address accorded a warm welcome to the august gathering and presented the Annual Report for the session 2011-’12. The School Magazine-DIPSVIEW 2011-’12 was formally released by the Chief Guest. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein meritorious students were awarded for their academic excellence.

The Chief Guest in his speech expressed his pleasure at being present on this day of celebration of the 27th Foundation Day of the School. He congratulated everyone associated with the school and said that 27 years were a long time in the history of an institution. He recalled with a tinge of nostalgia his pleasant association with the school and reminisced about his association with the Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav. He appreciated the School Magazine “DIPSVIEW” and said that he always preserved his copy. He continued by saying that the children of this school were extremely fortunate to be a part of this great establishment. He laid emphasis on the holistic development of the child’s personality and continued that ultimately it was “Personality that counted”. He also urged the students to pay attention to acquiring good language skills as they were required for effective communication. He concluded by exhorting the children to make the best use of their time in school as these days wouldn’t ever return.

The Cultural Programme began with the Welcome Song, sung by the choir of the Primary Wing seeking the blessings of the Almighty and welcoming the guests. The English Skit “All for a Kick” was written by B. Neeraj and Sachin Das of class XII-A. The play was directed by Mrs. Vasantha Adhikarla & Mrs. Sudipta Sarkar. The skit depicted the relationship between teenagers and their parents and showcased the idea that teenagers today, try to emotionally blackmail their parents to give into their demands and once the parents accede to these wishes repeatedly there are chances that the child may go astray. The Hindi Skit-“Hum Sab Ek Samaan” delivered the message that “Unity alone is Strength” using the fingers of the hand to suggest differences and the fist as a symbol of togetherness. The grand finale of the cultural bonanza was a rhythmic dance “Hareli” with its intricate footwork to the accompaniment of an extremely melodious folk song. This was choreographed by Mrs. Lathika Rajan.

Musical interludes were provided by Barash N. Roy playing a piece of Western Classical Music and
S. Mrinal giving an enchanting performance of Indian Classical Music on the Synthesizer alongwith a mesmerizing performance by Bhavyansh Mishra on the Tabla.

The programme drew to a close with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Ranjana Yadav and concluded with the National Anthem
 

Senior Wing Exhibition marks the inauguration of the
XXVII Foundation Day Celebrations of Delhi Public School, Bhilai

 

DPS Bhilai celebrated its XXVII glorious Foundation day on 18th August, 2012 at the Risali Sector School Complex amidst conviviality and jubilation. The day commenced with the inauguration of the Senior School Exhibition by Mr. Y.K. Degan, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS Bhilai & E.D. (Works), BSP, Bhilai. The theme chosen for the exhibition was “Around the World”. Class VI A & B showcased Brazil, while sections C & D focussed on the rest of South America. Sections E, F & G depicted the wonders of Australia and H showcased Antarctica’s geographical features, its stark flora and fauna and the most widely discussed issue of the day-Global Warming. Each section had described the physical features, art, culture, monuments, tourism facilities etc. of these continents very comprehensively and offered one a veritable feast for the eyes.

Class VII A, B & C took one on a trip to North America. Sections D, E & F had East Asia as their topic and sections G, H & I focussed on West Asia. Each room that one visited was a treasure trove of information and truly broadened one’s horizons.

Class VIII A, B & C dealt with East Europe, sections D, E & G with West Europe and sections F, H & I with far off and distant Africa. Each section had put together extremely thought provoking displays and vividly brought to life the myriad splendours of these marvellous lands.

The Exhibition offered one a fasinating insight into the rich and varied culture of the world we live in and indeed one almost went “Round the World” in a couple of hours virtually.

Praiseworthy exhibitions were also put up by the Deptts. of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computers, Home Science, Geography and English at the various laboratories. The exquisite Philately, Art and Craft Exhibition received great acclaim for their remarkable exhibits. The Flower Arrangement, Salad Decoration and Rangoli were a “riot of colours”.

The Chief Guest praised the creativity, innovativeness and artistic talents of the students and appreciated the effort, patience and diligence that had gone into creating an exhibition of this magnitude. He congratulated the principal, members of the faculty and the students for this spectacular show.
  INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION AT DPS, BHILAI  
 

The 17th Inter-School Quiz Competition was held at DPS, Bhilai in the Maroda Sector School Complex on 28th July, 2012. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was
Dr. (Mrs.) M. Kannambal, Co-opted Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai & HOD-English, Kalyan Mahavidyalaya, Bhilai.

The schools that participated in the contest after the preliminary selection round were Shri Shankaracharya Vidyalaya, Hudco, team members comprising Harshil Gupta and Saurabh Deshmukh, BSP Sr. Sec. School, Sector-10, team members-Deepita Keshari and Pranav Dhoke, Krishna Public School, Nehru Nagar, represented by Gunjan Mishra and Shreyank Mishra and the host school DPS Bhilai, represented by Harshit Sahay and Vishrant Tripahi.

The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp accompanied by an invocation. This was followed by the Vice Principal Mrs. R. Yadav’s Welcome Address wherein she introduced the Hon’ble Chief Guest to the audience. The quiz was conducted by
Mr. Suman Kumar Tripathi and Mrs. Richa Kumar whose quizzing acumen considerably enlivened the proceedings. The quiz comprised 3 rounds - Foundation, Echoes (an audio round) and Rapid Fire.

The Chief Guest in her Address expressed her pleasure at being present on the occasion. She praised the performance of the participants and said that quizzing was an interesting method of gaining knowledge. She said that the main objective of the quiz was “To look beyond the textbook and apply classroom learning”. She further said that the quiz helped in the overall development of the child’s personality. She concluded by saying “Everyone must have a dream which should then be translated into a vision and the vision should become a mission”. She congratulated the winners and urged the losers not to lose heart. She then awarded the Participation Certificates and the Prizes.

The competition was won by DPS Bhilai but being the host school it did not compete for the Rolling Shield which was awarded to Krishna Public School, Nehru Nagar, Bhilai.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Bindu Mockoul, Activity Incharge and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
